MA in International Logistics Management (Thesis/English)

Acorcding to the international monetary fund, the size of logistics services corresponds to 29% of the world GDP. This ratio is measured as 20% in Turkey. According to the Boston Consulting group’s research titled “Transportation and Logistics in a Changing World’, the 2015 logistics sector generated $ 2.7 trillion in revenue, and it is estimated that the transport sector is expected to generate $ 4 trillion in 2016. Since 2011, the transport sector has grown at the fastest rate, creating 7% growth every year. It is also estimated that between 2013 and 2016, the logistics sector will create 1.1 million new business opportunities.

Within the logistics sector, land transportation has the biggest share with 2 trillion dollars. At the same time, it is observed that 80% of world trade is carried out by sea and this ratio is increasing. Turkey, due to its location, is situated in a very advantageous position in the international maritime and road transport.

Turkey Logistics industry with the influence of this position ranked 34 in terms of logistics performance in the World Bank Logistics Performance Index with 3.15 points in 2007. In 2014 Turkey was ranked 30th.

One of the most important conditions for the continuation of the rise in this ranking is the individuals trained in the skills and equipment needed by the sector. Yaşar University Logistics Management graduate program aims to cover the shortage of trained individuals in this field.

The main aim of the program is for the students to specialize in applied knowledge of logistics management, scientifically analyze and synthesize problems in the field, engage in relevant critical thinking and to demonstrate the use of professional knowledge in practice. Within the program, research that requires specialization in the field is supported by interdisciplinary dialogues with other design fields as well as related fields.

The program requires the completion of at least 120 ECTS, comprising eight courses (four compulsory and four elective) and successful fulfillment of the master’s thesis.

Students are expected to decide their thesis topics at the beginning of the program in line within the themes of their tracks and choose their elective courses accordingly. In addition, the specified number of elective courses included in the program can be selected from other graduate programs.

Logistics Management Master Program (with thesis) accepts undergraduates of both national universities and international universities recognized by the Higher Education Council. Students, who enter from disciplines other than Logistics Management, undergo a Scientific Preparation Program, designed for students from different branches, and consisting of undergraduate courses arranged by the department.

The language of education is 100% English while the time for completion is four semesters. This period can be extended for a maximum of 2 semesters. However, the Scientific Preparation period is not considered part of this period. Students who graduate from the program are qualified to attain the degree of “MA in Logistics Management (with thesis)”.
